ATP, the official Asterisk training partner of Digium in Australia, offers the full range of Asterisk training and certification courses to the Asterisk community of individuals and businesses. As the official Asterisk training partner, all of  ATP trainers are Digium-Certified Asterisk Professionals (dCAP) and are highly experienced in the use of Asterisk and in the VoIP industry.

Asterisk Fast Start

The Asterisk Fast Start is an entry-level course, aimed at familiarising students with Asterisk and the environment in which it operates (the operating system and both traditional and IP telephony connections). This course is recommended for Asterisk beginners, as participants will be provided with hands-on experience from the start to finish - installation, configuration and basic operation of Asterisk on a freshly installed Linux PC.

This is a 3-day course and there are no prerequisites to attend this course.

The Asterisk Fast Start course is $2,400 ex-GST per person and it includes a training kit, consisting of Digiums cards and a Polycom SIP phone, for participants to take home. A training kit rebate of $300 ex-GST is also offered to participants who do not wish to keep the training kit after the course.

Asterisk Advanced

Asterisk Advanced course is one level up from the Asterisk Fast Start course. This course is designed to prepare Linux/Unix consultants, interconnect vendors, enterprise IT personnel, and ITSP/telco systems administrators to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot Asterisk-based VoIP systems.

This is a hands-on course which covers the knowledge and skills that an advanced Asterisk administrator should know to effectively deploy Asterisk-based solutions. At the end of this course, participants will be able to create advanced dial plans  and innovative telephony solutions by utilising the features of Asterisk. In addition, participants will gain a deeper understanding of VoIP and the ability to design robust VoIP networks.

This is a 5-day course and there are prerequisites to attend this course.  After completion of the Asterisk Advanced course, students can choose to participate in the dCAP exam for an additional fee of $350.00 ex-GST.

The Asterisk Advanced course is $3,600 ex-GST per person and it includes a training kit, consisting of Digiums cards and a Polycom SIP phone, for participants to take home. dCAP

Digium-Certified Asterisk Professional or dCAP certification is a verification of your knowledge  of Asterisk. The certification covers a specific released, stable version of Asterisk and is offered at the end of the Asterisk Advanced training course.

The dCap exam comprises two parts, a written test and a hands-on practical lab exam. The written test consists of 150 questions on Asterisk and Asterisk-related technology, and the lab exam will require you to configure a PBX according to a given specification.

Note: Taking the Asterisk Advanced course does not guarantee that you will pass the dCAP exam.

To pass the dCAP exam, it is recommended that you have read Asterisk: The Future of Telephony, 2nd Edition by O’Reilly, have actual working knowledge of setting up and maintaining an Asterisk server, have familiarity with the Asterisk sample configuration files, and have taken the Asterisk Advanced course. Information on open source Asterisk can be found at Asterisk.org.

dCAP exam is $350 ex-GST per person.
